In the last post about Google’s ‘Cupcake’ firmware upgrade we saw that there would be a on-screen keyboard added.  Well there is now video evidence of the keyboard being used.  From the looks of the video the keyboard features the click and drag function like the iPhone, for when you touch the wrong number.  The only problem is that it looks to be pretty slow when changing letters.  The black interface goes well with the black G1, but I don’t think it will look all that good on the brown and white versions of the G1.  I guess we’ll have to see what comes of this, and hopefully more details will come about in the future!

Ok I confess. I love Colorware. I love what they do, and after having put my hands on a few of the end results… I can certainly say the finished product is top-notch.

Colorware have announced that they are taking orders for T-Mobile G1 customization. If you’re bored with your black, white or bronze G1, Colorware offers you the option to pimp out your G1. You can send in your own device starting at just over $200, or purchase a T-Mobile G1 from Colorware (no contract) and have them customize it for you starting at $755. A bit costly, but pimpin’ ain’t cheap. The finished product will ship in 2 to 3 weeks.

For full details head on over to Colorware. Make sure you play with the customization tool while you’re there. Tons o’ fun!

Everyone wants to know what’s going on inside their gadgets and what sort of things can be found. Although the majority of us are afraid to rip our costly gadgets apart, there is always someone who’s curiosity gets the better of them. And now it’s the G1’s turn.

Android Community have published an article which features the dissecting of the G1 and lots of photos to go with it. It’s really quite interesting. It seems the roll ball in the G1 is the same as that in the Blackberry and a second vibration motor has been discovered.

Check it out now before you decide to pull yours apart!

Fun Stuff, Videos

Watched the first T-Mobile ad for the G1 last night during the World Series. The ad, aptly named ‘Questions’ features all kinds of people asking all kinds of questions. How do they get their questions answered? Well they use the G1 of course! I’ve been reading mixed reviews of the spot on other blogs this morning, but I kind of like it. One thing I would push though in future ads… GOOGLE. People that love Google with be faithful to it. Users are loyal and passionate about it. Pound out the Google brand name and surely a device that runs an OS from Google can only be as good as Google itself… right?

Should be interesting to see what other ads pop up if any. I’ll be tuned into the World Series tonight. Doubt I’ll see anything new.

This is kind of cool, and funny. Google has placed a giant blow-up Android robot outside of Google’s headquarters, emm…. Campus. With the launch of the Android Market, the T-Mobile G1 and a whole bunch of other firsts, Google no doubt wants to spread the robot love around their campus (oh that sounded bad). At any rate, good on Google for getting into the spirit. They’re certainly laid back… and I know for a fact they try not to take themselves too seriously. Where can I get a giant Android like that???
